Steve Lightbody was a multi-award winning producer, arranger, engineer, promotor, composer and musician from Queensland, Australia.
For over twenty-five years Steve produced, arranged, engineered and marketed releases for numerous Australian and international artists. These include John J. Francis (AU), Jessica Allen (UK), Aidan Nolan (USA), The Veronicas (AU), Liam Cole (USA), Angus + Dunn (AU), Susan Judd (NZ), The Tones (USA), Avaberée (AU) and James Becknall (AU). He was the musical director and songwriter for the successful Queensland vocal group Cantabile Singers from 1998 to 2006, with whom he recorded nine studio albums, one single, and an EP.
As well as his achievements as a freelance producer, Steve engineered, mixed and produced alongside many world class engineers including Leon Prescott (Powderfinger, You Am I), David Leonard (Paul McCartney, K.D. Lang), Jeff Malkin (Marie Olzard, Lil' Sasha), David Gibson (John Battersby, Benny And The Jets), Roberto Merlini (Ten Wedge, Peta Evans-Taylor), Anthony Lycenko (Pete Murray, Busby Marou), Sam Rosinsky (Midnight Express, Chris Morris) and Bernie Wedrat (The Butterfly Effect, Jimmy Barnes) as well as having had a lengthy association with legendary mastering engineers Dave Neil (Ben Lee, Kate Miller-Heidke) and Ted Jensen (Dave Matthews Band, Weezer).
Steve worked with a number of well-known session musicians including bassist Ian Beddows (James Morrison), internationally acclaimed multi-instrumentalist Gordon Titcomb (Arlo Guthrie), percussionist Alejandro Osorio (Norma Eliza), American saxophonist Kris Jenson (The Allman Brothers), UK keyboard wizard Ryan Anderson (David Bowie) and Melbourne session drummers Peter Evans (Angus & Julia Stone) and Lev Samuals (Catherine Britt).
In addition, Steve chalked up an impressive list of credits as a live sound engineer including K.D. Lang (State Theatre, Sydney), Ben Folds (Hordern Pavilion, Sydney), Joe Cocker (Sydney Entertainment Centre), Barry Gibb (Brisbane Entertainment Centre), Bobby Womack (Hamer Hall, Melbourne) and Dwight Yoakam (River Stage, Brisbane).
